Volume vs. Chapter Issue

Last Updated: Apr 24, 2018

The Situation

You may have known that some series in Manga Rock are getting newly re-uploaded high quality scans (high-res image, better translation etc.), and their corresponding chapter lists were changed from individual chapters to combined volume.

However, thanks to your feedback, we realized that while our intention was good (better reading experience), the way we implemented the change was not.

It leads to 2 problems:

  • Unable to resume reading in Recent (old chapters are gone!)

  • Can’t remember where you were reading (chapters no. is not shown in volume no.)

Our Solution

After careful consideration, we have decided to NOT go with the volumes format anymore - our content team will “break” the volumes into chapters like before, so we have the best of both worlds - chapter list, and high quality scans.

However, this change WILL affect some users who are already reading series with the “Volume” list, as  there will no longer be a combined volume list anymore after a few days, but a separate chapter list. Please manually take notes of what you were reading.

Furthermore, some users may receive notification of new chapters (for those re-uploaded chapters) - please ignore these notifications.

We are very sorry for this huge hassle on everyone, we have not communicated the previous change clearly.

We hope you will continue to support us, and we promise we will announce any significant changes much earlier.

Thank you so much!

The Manga Rock team
