Data Sync is a new feature introduced with the Manga Rock Membership. This feature helps MR Comics Members automatically sync their data across platforms and devices by uploading it to the cloud.
When Data Sync is active, it will replace the options for backup & restore, as well as import & export.
Which data gets synced?
4 types of information are automatically synced.
Your Favorite titles will be synced across devices, unless they have been licensed (i.e. syncing from Definitive to iOS).
Only Favorites from the Manga Rock source will be synced to the Manga Rock website.
Titles that you have recently read will be synced. Up to 100 titles from the Manga Rock source and 100 titles from all external sources will be synced, allowing you to pick up reading at where you have left off in the most convenient way.
- Reading Progress
Read/unread status of your chapters will be synced.
- Settings preferences
We sync your settings across devices, including notification and viewer settings, so you get a consistent reading experience everywhere. If you use a tablet, we'll sync some settings just for your tablet, too. Here's the full list.
How do I turn on sync?
When you sign in as a member, sync will begin automatically. In the app, a pop-up will tell you that sync is starting.
If you log in on a device that has new local data, you can choose to merge the local data with the cloud or delete it and replace it with the data in the cloud.
When is my data synced?
Data is synced seamlessly in the background whenever you open Manga Rock and as you navigate through it.
Depending on what you are doing, different data is synced at different times for efficient data use and speed. You'll see the sync badge on top of the More icon.
- To check what has been synced on mobile, you can navigate to the Sync Data menu in More and see the status of Favorites, Recent, reading progress, and setting preferences.
The app will inform you if there is ever an error when syncing and you can tap to retry.
I want to restore data from a backup.
You can restore from a backup in the Sync Data menu, in case you need to merge your old data with the cloud. You can also delete old backups.
I cannot create a new backup anymore.
While membership is active, Sync Data replaces Backup & Restore, as well as Import & Export. Those options will be removed from the menu.
I have a problem with data sync.
